Daniel Cammish left it late to grab pole position in tricky conditions for Round 10 of the Porsche Carrera Cup Great Britain at Knockhill in Scotland.

The Nationwide Crash Repair/PPG-backed driver traded the top spot with his Redline Racing team-mates, topping the times in the opening stages of the 30-minute session held in damp conditions at the Fife circuit.

Despite slipping to as low as sixth place at one stage, Cammish saved his best effort until last. He pumped in a time of 49.955s after a tyre change to grab pole position by just 0.011s from team-mate Charlie Eastwood. Cammish, who enters the Knockhill meeting third in the standings and 15 points behind leader Eastwood, was delighted to have returned to the series in style having missed the previous brace of races at Snetterton while on Porsche Supercup duties in Hungary two weeks prior.

The reigning champion will start second on the grid in the latter of Sunday’s two outings but was happy to be at the sharp end at the narrow Knockhill circuit.

Knockhill has been kind to Cammish in recent years, having taken four wins from four race starts in the Porsche Carrera Cup. Dan will be hoping to add to that tally on Sunday.

Cammish begins Sunday’s action from pole position in race one at 10:50, with the second contest taking place at 16:15 later in the afternoon.
