Daniel Cammish crossed the line to claim victory in the final race of the 2016 Porsche Carrera Cup GB year to end the season on a high after a race one spin.

The Leeds-based driver started race one from third on the grid after a rain-affected qualifying session on Saturday. Initially, he lost out to Dino Zamparelli but was able to work his way past on lap six, setting the fastest lap by over half a second at the same time. Unfortunately, a spin at Druids early on lap seven sent Dan tumbling down the order before he staged a brave fightback to narrowly missed out on sixth place by a hair’s breadth.

Race two would be an easier affair by Dan’s standards. Starting on pole for the standing start race, the Nationwide Crash Repair/PPG backed car powered into the lead. Dan set a string of fast times to build a lead of 3.3 seconds over second-placed Zamparelli, only to have that benefit neutralised on lap 12 with the appearance of the safety car after a backmarker spun. Nevertheless, a superb restart saw Dan lead by 1.7 seconds, a gap he maintained until he crossed the line to take a record-breaking 12th win of the season, surpassing his own 2015 tally and that of mentor Tim Harvey.
