Dan Cammish, the reigning and three-time Porsche Carrera Cup GB Champion, is making an exciting and a very welcome return to the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship for the 2022 season after today, Wednesday, 15th December, being revealed as the first driver for the new NAPA Racing entry.

Run by vastly experienced BTCC squad Motorbase Performance, NAPA Racing will debut next year in the UK’s premier motor racing category and the brand is already making big waves by signing Leeds driver Cammish – undoubtedly one of the country’s most exceptional racers.

The 32-year-old will mount a major title push with NAPA Racing next season, driving one of the Motorbase Performance engineered and prepared hybrid powered Ford Focus ST cars. It will mark his first full season in the BTCC since 2020, when he was a four-time race winner and title contender.

Sealing a record-breaking third Porsche Carrera Cup GB Championship crown this year, having previously won the coveted title in 2015 and 2016, Cammish actually started 2021 with a one-off outing in the BTCC during the series curtain-raiser at Thruxton – finishing second in round two.

His debut season in touring cars came in 2018 and after impressing on his switch from rear-wheel drive to front-wheel drive, claiming two outright wins in his rookie season, Cammish starred in 2019. Taking two race wins and 12 other podiums, he only missed out on a famous title victory by a mere two points after a heart-breaking mechanical failure on the penultimate lap of the final race.

In 2020, along with four more race victories and six other podiums Cammish was third in the overall driver standings for the second consecutive year – only two points away from ending the season as Vice-Champion.

NAPA Racing’s arrival in the British Touring Car Championship with Motorbase was announced just two days ago, and the partnership is eyeing big things together when the new season gets underway at Donington Park in the East Midlands on 23rd/24th April.
